About Hakshiva
For the Future of our Children — providing loving, professional, and holistic resources to enable every child to fulfill their academic, social, and emotional potential.
Organizational Background
Hakshiva is an Israeli NGO dedicated to developing and implementing hands-on support services for children and youth. Our unique, integrative approach unites community members, educators, and mental health professionals to facilitate the realization of each child's potential.
Currently embracing over 700 struggling youth in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Hakshiva provides targeted interventions in mentoring, educational assistance, teen services, and therapeutic solutions. While established by and for local residents, we are actively expanding our scope to reach youth in need across Israel.
The Need
Pre-adolescence and adolescence can be challenging and lonely. Biological changes, social shifts, and academic demands are often compounded by learning disabilities, immigration challenges (Aliyah), or family instability.
Experience shows that these children thrive with the right support. No child should have to navigate this path alone—our programming ensures that they don't have to.
Our Mission
Hakshiva's mission is to provide each and every child with proper, loving, and professional resources, enabling them to fulfill their potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
We meet the developmental, learning, social, and emotional needs of youth, offering them hope, direction, and a concrete path forward.
Scope of Programming
We offer a variety of specialized, professional services to address the unique needs of every child.
Mentoring
Currently serving about 150 children (ages 9-14). Mentors are trained, monitored role models matched to each child's specific needs, providing in-school and after-school support twice a week.
Educational Services
Academic success and emotional well-being are linked. We feature a homework center with special-education teachers supporting homework help, tutoring, and Hebrew language integration.
Teen Center
A safe, non-judgmental drop-in center for over 200 at-risk teens. Under professional guidance, teens set personal goals, build self-confidence, and reconnect with their families and community.
Therapy Clinic
Our clinical team includes 10 social workers and psychologists. We provide over 1,000 individual therapy sessions annually in Hebrew and English, heavily involving parents in the process.
